Jerry Zink
Vice President
Jerry Zink grew up on a ranch in Durango and studied Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. His work in the outdoors and underground exposed him to examples of simple, robust equipment that can reduce heavy, dangerous manual work. He met John Wolgamott and was fortunate to work as a research engineer early in the development of high pressure water jet rock cutting. They co-founded StoneAge, Inc. in 1979. Their first product was a waterjet-assisted rock drill that was much lighter weight, quieter, and faster than the conventional percussion drills. The novel features were a reliable rotating seal for high pressure water, compact yet efficient nozzle assembly, and fail-safe design. Jerry has applied those features and other patented mechanisms to industrial cleaning tools as Chief Engineer for 20 years at StoneAge. His philosophy has been to cooperate with customers, competitors, suppliers of associated equipment and in-house fabricators to produce modular designs with the future of the waterblast cleaning industry in mind.
What is your experience in the industry?
Jerry has been a member and supporter of WJTA since its inception. Jerry has contributed and submitted to WJTA research and application papers on various topics including: A Study of Rotary Jets for Material Removal; Nozzle Performance in Rotary Applications; and Optimizing Water Blast Power.
What pumps you up?
